For this final project, actually it is difficult for me to design an occupational therapy centre for down syndrome due to lack of the local therapy centre that are specialize for down syndrome. After the studies and research from project 1 and 2, I am required to design this centre for down syndrome. This is my first time due with this kind of educational therapy centre, there are still a lot of thing I need to learn in this subject matter and I hope I can learn more in my half year internship.

Malaysia Architecture

The Malaysia Architecture that I interested are The Starhill Gallery & POD Pavilion Kuala Lumpur. As I mentioned in the previous blog, I am interested in deconstructivism influences architecture such as all the design of Zaha Hadid. By the way, I am requested to find some architecture in this kind of form in Malaysia, which is local architecture. It is quite difficult for me to find a local architect designer who produce a deconstructivism architecture but I did found some amazing amazing decon-architecture in Malaysia which produced by other designer from other country.

THE STARHILL GALLERY

Design : Spark

Spark architecture won the 2013 German Design Council awards for "iconic" project with the design of STARHILL GALLERY in the categories of best retail project and best public project.

The geometric form of the building and the material (glass & stone) applied give this building an amazing and special look. The lighting effect at the night view is also fantastic. The form and the shape of the building make it a unique and most iconic structure standing in the middle of Bukit Bintang.

POD PAVILION KUALA LUMPUR

Photography : H.LIN HO
Design : Studio Nicoletti Associati

Water droplets in nature was the inspiration for ‘The Pod’ pavilion structure creating a dynamic spherical form resulting in a primitive building archetype with a modern twist. The round and soft shape of The Pod is formed as a series of elliptical sections of variable widths and heights. Slithers of windows brings natural daylight into the spaces below.

Internally the pavilion is divided into two parts: one zone is dedicated to the office area and the other contains the main showroom. The building appears to be sliced diagonally into a series of ribbons which wrap up and over the building creating a dynamic space within, forming a layered protective shell.

This building shows an exactly contrast with the Starhill Gallery which using raindrop shape as the design concept. The building and all the structure are using curvilinear form instead of sharp edged geometric form which is also one of my favorite local building. The building is plain white which shows the simplicity and clean wide space to made it an amazing place.

Interior Photography

These are the photos of interior space that I like. Most of the photos below are designed by Zaha Hadid Architect, which is one of my favourite architect. I like the interior design with deconstructivism form. Something plain, clean and special geometric and curvilinear forms of interior design will catch my attention. Beside that, the light effect shown in the photos below is also the reason why I like these interior photos.
